Thrashing by Leah Grace O’Brien

I walk alone on the sand

The tide pulls back, taking pieces of my soul each time

This used to be a safe place

But even the sea is angry with me

With dignity shattered I walk to the cliffs

Black waves come crashing down

Grappling at barnacles, I slip

Even the rocks won’t have me

I stagger into the moonlight and cry for you
